If I can tell immediately that someone is not for me, do I still have to talk with him/her?
The rotations are only 5 minutes for this reason. If you don't want to go out with the person, chat briefly and when the bell rings circle "NO" on your form and move on. But don't forget, this person could be a good friend or business prospect. . . there are MANY reasons to connect with someone besides just dating.
What kinds of questions should I ask?
Avoid asking "what do you do for a living" and "where do you live." We all tend to ask these questions first, but what do they really tell you about the person you're meeting? Start here and your 5 minutes will be over before you know it. Alternatively, think of a couple of questions that will give you insights into common interests or will tell you about the person - for example (we found these questions in "Love Mechanics" by Renée Piane):
What was the last book you read (movie you saw, CD you bought, etc)?
Where did you take your last vacation?
Where were you born?
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
What excites you about life?
What are you passionate about?
When you have time off, what is your favorite thing to do?
What makes you happy?
Do you have a favorite saying? What and why.
Who are your mentors and role models in life?
